Photo journal no 4: more of Paris in the spring

More of spring in Paris. A lot of green water in the Seine, magnolias in bloom, pink buildings, magnolias in bloom in front of pink buildings, coffee at a café, view of the Eiffel tower, sun on a burgundy red door, Montmartre, random lovely buildings. Spring light.

Photo journal no 3: Paris

Paris a few days ago. My favourite trips are with my family even though we usually want to do different things. Two grown-ups, two teenagers. I spent more time in the very busy part of rue Rivoli shopping for clothes than I really had planned or wanted to due to my 16 year old daughter’s need to shop. When she is happy, I’m happy. But I did end up buying a very inexpensive pink sweater at Forever 21 and some earrings at Mango. Also thanks to my daughter we went on top of the Arc de Triomphe and I got to shoot the image above from above the Champs-Élysées. First time for me up there and I recommend it. Beautiful view , interesting history, not very expensive, the line wasn’t bad and a very healthy climb up stairs to get there. I love walking around with my camera looking for great shots and I think my daughter is starting to like photography too. This is good for me because then I’m not the only one stopping all the time, I’m always way behind the others. These shots are my dream of what Paris is, they are real but far from the whole story. I love that the trees had not turned green yet, these more brownish tones look so good together with the buildings and pink flowers, magnolias and cherry blossoms. More images of Paris to come in my next photo journal. Paris in the spring.

in the print shop

These images are all in one of my Etsy print shops (Ulrika Ekblom Photo), I have two. This one is mainly from travels I’ve been on from places like Cinque Terre, Sestri Levante, Portofino, Charleston, Miami, Paris. The other shop (Nordic WallFlower) is all about flowers and plants. New prints from Paris are coming up after I sorted and edited all the photos from my lovely, springy three-day Paris visit last week.

two large posters of paris on etsy

I’m happy to let you know I have finally chosen two photographs to make posters from and I have already printed them. These are the first two poster but more will come. These first ones are both from Paris and printed on matte paper (my favorite) in the large size of 70 x 100 cm ( 27 1/2 x 39 1/4 “). The good thing with these posters, apart from the photo and being big, is that they are not very expensive so you can easily just pin or tape them on the wall. Or if you want to frame them there are many ready made frames in this size to frame them with. You can get them in my etsy shop. And I ship world wide.

I’m on Etsy

I’m very excited I now have an Etsy shop. In my Etsy shop I have prints of my photos for sale. It’s still a small shop but I will be adding more prints and also posters. The images in this post are a collection of photos I’ve put together, it’s for sale as a set. The theme is Paris, but I’ve also chosen them to go well together color wise. Gray, black a little bit of blue, Paris colors. I shot most of them when I was in Paris a lovely weekend last spring, shooting for a cookbook and some from a December visit. I wanted to do more with them after I finished the cookbook. This is the first thing. The images are printed with pigment print on Epson Enhanced Matte Paper 192g, a high quality paper. I love the real feeling of matte paper. I love not having any reflections in the photos. If you tape them directly on the wall instead of framing them you keep the matte feeling of the paper. The two photos below are from my home workspace, an example on how to put them together. So go to my new Etsy shop!

Paris from the top of the Eiffel tower

I’ve been working on a new project which is going to result in prints and posters. I’m spending a lot of time choosing what images to make posters and prints from. I’ve decided I will definitely make a few posters of photos from Paris, but I’m not sure yet which ones. This image here is taken from the top of the Eiffeltower in December. If you look close you’re able to see the Centre Pompidou, Sacré Coeur, Place de la Concorde, Les Tuilleries, le Louvre, Seine, Notre Dame, Pont des arts, Pont neuf among others, almost like a map. I think this is probably one of the images I will choose, it will be perfect as a big print so you can see all the buildings in it. I also like the colors in it and the cloudy sky, it makes it beautiful to look at from a distance too.

The last photo in this post is also taken from the top of the Eiffel Tower but in the other direction. Not as many famous buildings in that direction, but you can see the small Statue of Liberty that Paris has. It’s on the little island in the Seine, on the far end.

Paris, winter

Paris

I went to Paris this past spring to shoot for the book Franska Bakverk (French Pastry) by Mia Öhrn. You can se more of Franska Bakverk here. I also went to Paris because it is one of my favorite cities in the world (I studied photography in Paris for two years) and I’d been wanting to go all on my own for a while. It was the first weekend with lovely weather after the long winter last year. I got so many photos of Paris and there was of course not room for all of them in the book, it is after all a cookbook and not a book about Paris. But I’ve got lots of room here for them so I’m going to show them now and then.
