Photo Journal no 14: Lo Scoglio in Massa Lubrense, Italy

A few years ago, not that many, in the beginning of the summer I traveled to Napoli in Italy. On my third day in Napoli I and the group I traveled with went on a day trip to the Sorrento Peninsula and the tiny village of Massa Lubrense where we had lunch. The restaurant is Lo Scoglio. A family run restaurant where they grow all their own vegetables and get their fish and seafood in the ocean just outside the restaurant. The food and the surroundings I will never forget and this is what it looks like.

After editing these images for this post I had to add some of the them to my print shop.

Photo journal no 12: Copenhagen in autumn

Autumn in Copenhagen. Beautiful sunny days and cold windy ones. All images apart from the first one is from the area in Copenhagen called Christianhavn. Copenhagen is wonderful in all kinds of weather and the first image is shot on Gothersgade.

Photo journal no 11: Crete

Almost exactly a year ago I traveled to the Greek island of Crete with a team of very talented and creative women. During a week we produced a cookbook with food cooked by the loveliest Cretan women. (More about the book in an earlier post, go here.) I shot lots and lots and many of the photos are printed in the book. I’ve looked through all images I shot again. Somehow my mind brings back strong memories of a trip a year later. Usually also only the good parts, making me want to go again. Trips are usually mostly good and so was this one. I’ve chosen some new images and edited them to reflect what my feeling of this trip is now a year later. (Some of the photos from Crete are already in my printshop, see a post about that here.)

Photojournal no 9: Bougainvilleas of Crete

These are all new prints in my print shop. Different colourful, beautiful Bougainvilleas on the Greek island of Crete. Available in whatever size you’d like. Click here to visit shop.

Cookbook from Crete with Jill Johnson and Maria Molin Ljunggren

In october I went on an inspiring assignment to the island of Crete in Greece to make a cookbook together with Jill Johnson and Maria Molin Ljunggren. The recipes are from Jill and Maria and the many Cretan women they have become friends with after many years visiting Crete. The theme is food from Crete and here are some of the huge amounts of photos I took for the book. You can read more about the book and get it here.

On this cookbook making trip to Crete was also Lisa Kullberg (graphic designer), Mia Gahne (writer), Liselotte Forslin (food stylist) and Ingela Holm (publisher).

photo journal no 7: in the cactus greenhouse

A late winter visit with a feeling of spring to the Cactus Greenhouse in the Uppsala Botanical Gardens, a part of Uppsala University. Located in a beautiful building built in the 18th century in the even older botanical gardens. Read more on their website about the garden and all the famous people that worked and studied here like Carl von Linné (Carl Linnaeus). https://www.botan.uu.se

Photo journal no 4: more of Paris in the spring

More of spring in Paris. A lot of green water in the Seine, magnolias in bloom, pink buildings, magnolias in bloom in front of pink buildings, coffee at a café, view of the Eiffel tower, sun on a burgundy red door, Montmartre, random lovely buildings. Spring light.

Photo journal no 3: Paris

Paris a few days ago. My favourite trips are with my family even though we usually want to do different things. Two grown-ups, two teenagers. I spent more time in the very busy part of rue Rivoli shopping for clothes than I really had planned or wanted to due to my 16 year old daughter’s need to shop. When she is happy, I’m happy. But I did end up buying a very inexpensive pink sweater at Forever 21 and some earrings at Mango. Also thanks to my daughter we went on top of the Arc de Triomphe and I got to shoot the image above from above the Champs-Élysées. First time for me up there and I recommend it. Beautiful view , interesting history, not very expensive, the line wasn’t bad and a very healthy climb up stairs to get there. I love walking around with my camera looking for great shots and I think my daughter is starting to like photography too. This is good for me because then I’m not the only one stopping all the time, I’m always way behind the others. These shots are my dream of what Paris is, they are real but far from the whole story. I love that the trees had not turned green yet, these more brownish tones look so good together with the buildings and pink flowers, magnolias and cherry blossoms. More images of Paris to come in my next photo journal. Paris in the spring.

in the print shop

These images are all in one of my Etsy print shops (Ulrika Ekblom Photo), I have two. This one is mainly from travels I’ve been on from places like Cinque Terre, Sestri Levante, Portofino, Charleston, Miami, Paris. The other shop (Nordic WallFlower) is all about flowers and plants. New prints from Paris are coming up after I sorted and edited all the photos from my lovely, springy three-day Paris visit last week.
